Bio

Tim received his BS in Bioengineering in 2004 from the University of Pittsburgh. He then continued on as a graduate student under the supervision of Dr. James F. Antaki and earned his MS in Bioengineering in 2008. While performing his graduate work he joined the Artificial Heart Program at UPMC in 2005 where he was responsible for technical and clinical care of patients who have received ventricular assist devices and other forms of mechanical circulatory support.  In 2006, Tim also joined the Echo Lab in the University of Pittsburgh’s Cardiovascular Institute, where he performed clinical research using non-invasive techniques to assess left ventricular recovery in patients with ventricular assist devices.
Tim joined the Vascular Medicine Institute in 2009, applying his engineering expertise to studies focusing on right ventricular function and pulmonary hypertension. Tim’s background gives him the ability to provide solutions to the vast array of technical challenges found in the realm of translational research.  These solutions include:
