PostDoctoral Training Program Announcement
The Department of Medicine will increase infrastructure and support for its PostDoctoral fellows. The VMI’s Dr. Iain Scott, PhD, and Dr. Sruti Shiva, PhD, will direct and oversee a new PostDoctoral Training Program (PDTP) that builds and amplifies on many of the Department’s existing career development programs.
Dr. Steve Chan and collaborators identify cancer drugs that show promise for treating PH
Published in Science Advances, the study used a new algorithm to identify candidate cancer drugs for PH. The findings support broader use of this drug-repurposing platform for other non-cancerous conditions.
Dr. Partha Dutta Awarded New R01
Congratulations to Dr. Partha Dutta who, with co-PI Dr. Radhika Muzumdar, was recently awarded a new NIH-NIA R01 titled, “Cardioprotective Role of Humanin in Aging.”
Dr. Prithu Sundd Receives Bayer Research Award to Study Hemophilic Arthropathy
Prithu Sundd, PhD, has received the Basic Research Award from the Bayer Hemophilia Awards Program to identify the mechanism underlying joint-damage in hemophilia.

Congratulations to Dr. Steve Chan who was recently awarded a new NHLBI R01 titled, “Frataxin deficiency as a cause of endothelial senescence in multiple subtypes of pulmonary hypertension.”
